She currently lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter. The Paper Gods trilogy is inspired by her time living in Osaka and travelling throughout Japan (as well as watching far too many J-Dramas, she says). Instead, she prefers unearthing fascinating stories in the safety of her living room. However, she didn't actually become an archaeologist, as she has an intense fear of spiders. In university she took English, Linguistics, and Asian History, before settling into Archaeology, because she loved learning about the cultures and stories of ancient people. She hopes that her work has improved since then. She started reading fantasy novels at 4 and writing as soon as she could hold a pencil. She was born in Deep River, Canada, a very small town without traffic lights or buses, and where stranger safety was comprised of what to do if you see a bear-or skunk. Amanda Sun, also known as Sun-sama by her fans, is a YA author, proud Nerdfighter (an online group founded by the VlogBrothers), and a wife/mother of two children.
